Ways to Help

Esther is posting updates at the Team Brighter Days Facebook page. You do not need a Facebook account in order to access the page (but you do need an account in order to comment).

*********
In the meantime, how can you help?

1. Pray - Our God can do greater things in one word than we can do in a lifetime corporately. Pray for the Lee family as they grieve. Pray for little Gwen who misses her sister and playmate. Pray for God's comfort, peace and glory to be manifest in their lives, and for His divine provision as they follow Him. We are nothing apart from Christ.

2. Subscribe to/follow this blog and the Team Brighter Days Facebook page - stay up to date on what's happening.

3. Send notes to express your love and support for the Lee family
If you prefer to send mail the old-fashioned way, you can send cards and notes to:
The Lee Family
P.O. Box 1113
Deerfield, IL 60015-1113
I (Patty) will make sure the Lees receive the mail directly. If you have questions, you can contact me: naisula (at) gmail (dot) com.

4. Sign up to help in tangible ways - Opportunities come up now and then; we will let you know as they arise.

5. Monetary gifts - Many of you have asked how you can best contribute financially to support the Lee family. Here are a couple ways:

    1) Make a tax-deductible donation to cancer research that could benefit kids like Ava! There are 3 organizations in particular that the Lee family would love to support:
        a) As you know, Dr. Colleen Delaney has been instrumental in Ava's own treatment at Fred Hutch in Seattle and she continues to pioneer cord blood research. Be sure to donate here "in memory of" Ava Lee to ensure that all donations go toward Dr. Delaney's research.

        b) Cal's Angels is a wonderful organization that has directly touched the Lee family numerous times already, and any donation in Ava's memory would be greatly appreciated.

        c) Another option is to support AML research for pediatric cancer patients in hopes of finding new targets for more effective and less toxic therapies. Moreover, 100% of donations to AML research are directed to research, as there are NO overhead costs. Esther and Ava's story were featured in this video about it:

    2) Give to the Lee family directly. The previously existing YouCaring site has been updated to be Ava's Memorial Fund. Donations made there will go directly to the Lee family to be used as they desire, e.g. to cover medical bills (no idea how much that will be yet), to be used for travel, to be donated to an organization of their choice or anything else. If you prefer, you can write a personal check or transfer funds via Chase QuickPay. If using Chase QuickPay, transfer funds to:

This is all a work in progress, but we hope this is a good starting place, and we'll adjust things as we go along to adapt to the changing needs. Thank you for your patience, but most of all, for your partnership! Mike & Esther feel incredibly blessed by you all.

Feel free to contact Patty or leave a comment below if anything isn't working properly or if you have other questions or suggestions. Thank you.

Hi, Esther. The donate link on the GoFundMe page is not working. I'm wondering if it's inactive? Sorry to bother you with this. I hope I'm don't seem like a stalker after my long comment earlier. :O

Hi, Kelly. Thanks for your note. The link works for me; I'm not sure if the site was temporarily down or not. Feel free to email me at naisula (at) gmail (dot) com if you're still having problems. Thank you! - Patty
