Feb 28 update from Mike

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I have been shedding many tears these past couple of days. A good portion have came from thinking about the long and uncertain road ahead for our daughter. But perhaps an equal or even greater breakdown of emotion comes from understanding the distress and heartbreak you experience for our family. Your spoken and unspoken words have done a deep work in our hearts, to really connect us to the love of our Heavenly Father.
We got the alarming news today that the leukemia Ava has is actually the worse of the two categories (AML).  Due to the many uncertainties of this type, we were led to make atransfer to Lurie Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. We have been nicely situated here since 1:30pm (Friday).
Ava had a PICC line inserted, which means she can receive medicine and have her blood drawn without any more needles! We were told that children need help with two important things to do extra well during these trials: 1) to know that their parents are with them, and 2) managing the pain.  We're totally committed to being with her and for her, and no more needles is such a huge blessing.
The chemotherapy begins tomorrow, and continues each day for the next ten days.  We'll try our best to take it one day at a time.  But with AML, Gwen is already being considered as a top candidate for bone marrow transplant (if needed). What an amazing story should she actually be a match!  There's a one in four chance, but we're trying not to focus on all the various numbers and keep our eyes on Jesus.

What we do know is that Ava and Gwen love each other deeply with what I know is a love from the Lord. That alone provides us with so much encouragement and joy. In Christ, we are all a perfect match.

We'll keep you updated, and feel free to share this with anyone you'd like. We are truly in need of prayer, grace, and God's leading. But we don't want to keep it to ourselves. These blessings must be turned back to God to give Him praise. Thank you for helping us do that!!

Love,
The Lee's
